Q. Why is there a recall for the dehumidifier?
A. There have been reports of a small number of dehumidifier units overheating, emitting smoke, or catching fire.
Q. How can I tell if my dehumidifier is affected by the recall?
A. The potentially affected dehumidifier units were sold from January 2005 through August 2013, depending on the brand, and were distributed under the Soleus Air, Kenmore, Frigidaire, Danby, Premiere, GE, Gree, Fellini, Seabreeze, De’Longhi, SuperClima, Norpole, or Fedders name brands in 20, 25, 30, 40, 45, 50, 65, and 70 pint sizes. Consumers can determine if they own one of these dehumidifiers by checking the name plate and serial number label on the exterior of the dehumidifier.

A. The model number is printed on the name plate sticker located on the back, side, or front of the unit.

A. The serial number can be found on the back, side, or front of unit directly below the name plate sticker.
Q. How do I dispose of or get rid of my unit after I cut the cord?
A. Please arrange for disposal of your recalled dehumidifier by contacting your local waste removal vendor (do not return unit to store). Please also
confirm that the vendor will dispose of the dehumidifier in an environmentally responsible manner, consistent with the Environmental Protection Agency's
guidelines and recommendations for proper disposal of appliances, which can be found at http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/608/disposal/household.html, or http://earth911.com/. You may also contact your local Department of Public Works or Solid Waste Department for
information on proper disposal and disposal locations.
Q. How can I ship back my dehumidifier to you? Who is taking care of the shipping cost?
A. The dehumidifier will not need to be sent back to us. Within your return kit, there will be a return envelope and return label provided to return only
the name plate sticker, the power cord and plug, and the warning sticker from the power cord. Please do not cut the cord on your unit until you receive your return kit with instructions on how to return the product.
Q. I do not have the original package. How should I pack my dehumidifier to send it back to you?
A. The dehumidifier will not need to be sent back to us. Within your return kit,

Q. How will I be reimbursed?
A. You will be reimbursed once your name plate sticker, the power cord and plug, and the warning sticker from the power cord are returned and your return
kit has been processed. Please allow 2-6 weeks from the receipt of your return to receive
your reimbursement.

Q. I want my refund before I return my unit/cord/name plate.
A. Sorry, we cannot reimburse any consumer that does not provide us with the
return kit that includes the name plate sticker, the power cord and plug, and the warning sticker. Please do not cut the cord on your unit until you receive your return kit with instructions on how to return the product.
Q. How do I cut the cord?
A. Unplug the unit from electricity and drain the reservoirs before cutting the cord. Once these safety precautions have been completed, the cord can be cut with either wire cutters or another instrument such as household scissors that will cut through the entire cord with ease. Please do not cut the cord on your unit until you receive your return kit with instructions on how to return the product.
Q. I am having trouble removing the name plate, how can I remove the sticker without damaging it?
A. Unplug the unit from electricity and drain the reservoirs. Once these safety precautions have been completed, a hair blow dryer may be used to assist with the removal of the adhesive from the sticker. A putty knife or similar type tool may also be helpful when removing the name plate sticker.
Q. Can I just take a photo of the name plate and send that?
A. No, you will have to send the name plate sticker, the power cord and plug, and the warning sticker from the power cord.
Q. Have there been any reported injuries?
A. To date there have been two reported injuries.
Q. I noticed my local store is still selling the dehumidifiers, why haven’t they stopped selling these units?
A. Not all of the Soleus Air, Kenmore, Frigidaire, Danby, Premiere, GE, Gree, Fellini, Seabreeze, De’Longhi, SuperClima, Norpole, and Fedders units are affected by the recall. Only the specific models identified and sold between January 2005 through August 2013, depending on the brand, are affected by the recall.
Q. How are current GE dehumidifiers different from those included in Gree’s recall?
A. GE dehumidifiers produced after December 2010 have design and construction differences from units included in the recall.
Q. Have you stopped shipping the product affected by the recall?
A. Yes.
Q. When will you resume shipping?
A. We do not know at this time as the CPSC investigation into the affected product is currently pending. We will provide more information when we have it.
Q. If I am not affected by this recall, why did I receive a letter from (retailer) stating that I am affected?
A. Please re-verify model number, date code, and serial number (if applicable) and if you are not affected by this recall, please contact the retailer that
sent you the notification to check if you are affected by a different recall.
Q. Where were the units sold?
A. Units were sold at Home Depot, Kmart, Lowe’s, Menards, Mills Fleet Farm, Sam’s Club, Sears, Walmart and other stores nationwide and in Canada, and online at Amazon.com and Ebay.com, from January 2005 through August 2013 for between $110 and $400.
